The impact of extensive reforestation, and protection from hunting and motorized vehicles will be a highlight. LEADER BIO: Peter has spent a lifetime visiting his family’s 500 acre property and helping to establish Dahl Forest as a nature reserve. In the 1950’s his family planted over 100,000 trees and they have protected the natural environment ever since. In 2009 the Dahl family donated the land to the Haliburton Highlands Land Trust to maintain as a nature reserve in perpetuity.

Throughout his life Peter has watched the land evolve from barren fields to a rich forest ecology.

DIRECTIONS:   From Haliburton follow Gelert Rd (County Rd . 1) to Geeza Rd just south of Gelert. Tur left/west on Geeza Rd. and drive to # 1307. The distance from Haliburton is approximately 28km. From Minden take Hwy 35 to South Lake Rd (County  Rd  16). Turn east and follow South Lake Rd. to the “T” intersection at Gelert Rd (County Rd 1).
